| | CHEVROLET II SS MODIFIED (1966) CAR HISTORYCar review on CHEVROLET II SS MODIFIEDDue to its light weight and powerful small-block V8, the Chevy II was popular with modifiers. It remains so today, with a healthy aftermarket of parts suppliers. As the SS cars were built so well and with performance in mind as standard, the modifications don't need to be drastic in order to make the cars quicker as street- and strip racers. This one simply features the stock suspension which has been fitted with lowering springs and uprated shocks, though it retains the stock anti-roll bar up front. Most of the work has been done in the drive train, with the original motor having much race tuning. It now has reworked heads, a high-rpm camshaft, new intake, and a huge 105cfm carburettor, plus fenderwell full-length headers to optimize mid- and top end power. The car is easily capable of 12-second quarters, thanks to the Hoosier semi-slick street tyres on the rear
