cars were really a street offshoot of the late 1970s Pro Stock drag-racing
class. Pro Stock cars had to use the standard body of a street-going car,
but apart from this many alterations were allowed to make them go quicker.
In reality, the standard body was the only part of the race car which
made the transition from the street, the rest of the car featuring a full
tubular spaceframe in lightweight steel, plus lightweight suspension and
a stripped interior with aluminum panels replacing steel wherever possible.
This Plymouth is typical of later Pro Street cars, where the e mphasis
came back to them being streetable, hence it has a stock interior and
even stock front suspension, although the powerplant is anything but stock.
It's a drag motor barely tamed for street use, but it can catapult this
Fury down the quarter-mile in just 7.5 seconds at over 190 mph (306 km/h).
